Take two minutes, answer honestly · you might be the one who breaks that number.

Lipedema patient guide — EuroPack

What is it?

A disease, not extra weight

Lipedema is a chronic disorder of fat distribution. It affects the limbs and does not respond to diet or exercise. It is not a failure of willpower · it is a documented medical condition since 1940.

99%

of patients are women

The trigger is hormonal · estrogen is the driver. Usually begins at puberty, pregnancy, or menopause.

4

progressive stages

From Stage 1 (smooth wavy skin) to Stage 4 (visible deformity + lymphedema). Medical compression keeps you in a low stage.

5

types by location

From hips to calves to arms. Each type has its own garment. See the map.

12 yrs

average diagnostic delay

Due to confusion with obesity. Every year of delay means irreversible progression. Early diagnosis is your strongest weapon.

Regular obesity
  • Distributed across the whole body
  • Responds to diet and exercise
  • Painless to touch
  • Hands and feet enlarge with the body
Lipedema
  • Limbs only · abdomen relatively normal
  • Does not respond to diet or exercise
  • Pain, heaviness, easy bruising
  • Hands and feet remain normal-sized

Clinical classification

Five types,
by accumulation site.

90% of cases are in the lower body. Common combinations: 2 + 4, and 3 + 4. Each type has a garment that matches the zone.

1

Hips & buttocks

Accumulation in the pelvic area only.

2

Hips to knee

Enlarged thighs; the knee is the stopping point.

3

Hips to ankle

Entire legs. Feet remain normal.

4

Accumulation in upper and lower arms. Hands remain normal.

5

Calves only

Lower legs only. Relatively rare.

Before you ask

The most direct questions.

What's the difference between lipedema and regular obesity?+

Lipedema is an abnormal fat distribution that affects the limbs and doesn't respond to diet or exercise; it causes pain, bruising, and heaviness. Hands and feet stay normal-sized. Obesity is general, body-wide, and responds to weight loss.

Does lipedema affect men?+

Very rarely. 99% of cases are women, because the trigger is hormonal (estrogen). It usually begins at puberty, pregnancy, or menopause.

Is there a complete cure?+

There is no curative treatment, but consistent daily medical compression + manual lymphatic drainage + specialized lipedema liposuction can halt the progression and keep it in a low stage for decades.

How many hours per day should the garment be worn?+

Without surgery: 8 to 12 hours daily, lifelong. After lipedema liposuction: 23 hours/day in the first weeks, then gradual reduction over six months.

Does the garment harm the skin or blood circulation?+

No, if it's medical-grade and properly sized. EuroPack garments are made with active antibacterial silver treatment, and their pressure is graduated to enhance lymphatic flow, not restrict it.
